Constantin Berlin is a PhD candidate in U.S. History & Society at the American Studies Department. He holds degrees in American Studies and Global Studies from Leipzig University and Roskilde University and was a Fulbright Scholar at UC Santa Barbara during his graduate studies. His research interests include 20th U.S. labor history, African American history, intellectual history, and urban history. 

Since 2022, he has been a member of the doctoral research group “The Black Power Movement and the Contested Nature of American Democracy" under the supervision of Prof. Simon Wendt. In his dissertation project, titled “Mobilizing Black Liberation for Socialism," he analyses the intellectual and political trajectory of American Trotskyism during the Civil Rights and Black Power eras, with a particular focus on the Socialist Workers Party US (SWP) and the city of Detroit.
