How do people understand sentences—whether they're using their first language or learning a new one? This is the question being explored in our research. We want to find out how language is processed in the brain, and how this differs across languages and types of language learners. To do this, we use various methods: we observe the behavior of participants, we track their eye movements while reading, we measure their brain activity, and we develop computational cognitive models.
